Martini Max
Guitar & Vocals

Martini Max is a 21 year old UC Davis student majoring in Political Science. Thanks to his father and his own impeccable tastes, music has been a part of his life since the earliest years. In 1995 Max got his first guitar, and it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Influenced by bands like Metallica, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam, Max began playing hard rock music and developing his own style. Over the years, Max began to play other types of music, including blues, heavy metal, and eastern folk music. His influences broadened to include Stevie Ray Vaughn, Royal Crown Revue, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Duke Ellington, and Louis Prima. By 1998, Max was deep into music within the Jazz genre, including Bebop, Dixieland, and Hard Bop. It was that year, that the band was completely formed and started playing serious gigs. Since then, Max has become completely immersed in Jazz. He studies it constantly from roots to methods. These days, he is most heavily influenced by Thelonious Monk, Kenny Burrell, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Parker, Art Blakey, Lee Morgan, Dizzy Gillespie, and Jimmy Smith. Currently, when not playing music, writing music, or listening to music, Max is doing research and planning for a book on the Italian influence in the creation of Jazz music.
